Meet Coach Jay
Coach | Runner | Mentor
Jay’s passion for running began 27 years ago, inspired by his aunt and uncle—both standout athletes in the sport. His love for running deepened during high school, where he competed in cross country and track. In college, Jay transitioned to longer distances, focusing on half-marathons and marathons.
While studying in Columbus, Ohio, he became involved with Team In Training, first as a participant and later as a team trainer, leading group runs and mentoring new runners.
In 2005, Jay was named Head Coach for Track and Cross Country at Grandview Heights High School in Grandview, Ohio. He led the program for five years before relocating to the West Coast to pursue new opportunities.
Jay currently lives in Decatur, Georgia with his wife, Amanda, and their son, Henry. He works for Blistering Pace Race Management as the Director of Athlete Services, where he combines his deep knowledge of the sport with a commitment to supporting runners at every level. He continues to coach and inspire athletes through personalized training and community involvement.
